Rochford brought a strong side and were on the attack early. An accurate kick into the corner gave them good territory and when Witham couldn't clear their lines, the visitors capitalized to open the scoring. Witham went straight back into their 22 and were within yards of their line. Rochford were under pressure and gave away several penalties before Alex Beer took a quick tap and charged over to level the score. The visitors got their composure back and started to dominate. The scrums were evenly contested but a few moments of indiscipline allowed Rochford to get close enough to launch further attacks. By half time it was 21-5 to the visitors. Witham started the second half strongly and were making good ground. However, going down to 14 men early in the half meant severely reduced the attacking options. It is a credit to the Witham Boys that only 2 tries were scored in the half and the score held to a reasonable loss on 5-33 in the circumstances.
