In perfect conditions, the match started with some even exchanges of possession. The visitors seemed to pose more threat and Witham had to clear their lines. After 15 minutes, a scrum in Witham territory gave Pegasus a platform to mount an attack. Their backs took the ball wide before cutting back and breaking through to score.
Witham applied their own pressure and pushed into the Pegasus half. Pegasus managed to steal the ball but Daz Chesson read the play and collected an interception, running through to score. Chesson converted to level the scores. Witham were now in control and looking to get ahead. Late in the half, a surging charge by Darren Smith set up a chance for Mark Viljoen to score his first try for Witham. Another Chesson conversion gave Witham a 14-7 lead at half time.
Witham continued to dominate in the second half. A break by Matt Mirecki with support from Doulton Wells led to another Chesson try. Shortly afterwards, Steve Regan fed Dave Hollick who scored in the corner. Chesson completed a his 4th kick out of 4 to seal the victory. In the last minutes, Pegasus threw everything at the Witham line. The home pack repelled each attack but so many players were committed that when Pegasus went wide, their winger Gary Sewell could win the sprint to score in the corner. Man of the match was Matt Mirecki. Final score 28 -12.
