With Millwall in the top 4, this was never going to be an easy trip. With notable absences giving slots to less regular first teamers, Witham would have to be at their best from the start.
As it happened, Millwall were the side that started with more purpose and attacking intent. With their runners hitting our line at pace, we were on the back foot and the home side built a good lead. At 27-0, Daz Chesson made a break on the blind side. When he was stopped, Charlie Gibson collected and broke through the back row players. A swift side step left the fullback static and Chalie.grounded. this sparked a period of domination for Witham. Our next score was the result of some relentless attacks on their line, Nathan Frost went close before the ball was spun wide. Jon Beales helped it on and when it reached Rob Bennett on the wing, he finished neatly. Millwall had a shake up and started the second half strongly, adding to their lead. Despite breaks by Daz and Figgy, we just couldn't make the line. As the game came to an end, the pack won a brilliant scrum 10 meters out. Ryan Logue carried but was halted only for Harry to collect and burst over the line. Jon Beales was Man of the Match for Witham with Harry being bit of the week for a bit of a naughty high tackle.
